A Day trip to Kluang

Thinking of a short trip to nearby Singapore, whereby you can eat and relax, you may consider Kluang, Johor Bahru.

As per Wikipedia,
Kluang is a town and district located near the middle of the state of Johor in the southern portion of peninsular Malaysia.
It is not very near, but its not very far either. I have been there for a few times, and every time, I really enjoy my trip down.

HOW TO GET THERE:
By Train: (most direct way)
You may take a KTM rail to Kluang from Singapore Woodlands Railway Station or JB Sentral. Upon  arriving either station, you will be able to purchase a train ticket directly there. Personally, I have only tried taking the train once and was from JB Sentral, I will also recommend to take from JB Sentral as well, as the fare will be cheaper.

Please note, as the frequency for the train is not quite often, you may have to check on the train schedule first before your departure. However, so far I still have yet to be able to retrieve their schedule from their website. Therefore, if you want to know the schedule, you may have to contact them directly. I do come across a website, providing the schedule of such, but I have no idea, how accruate is their information, but you may refer this for REFERENCE only. Train36

By Bus(es)
If you notice, I have mentioned earlier that I have only took the train once, and  so the rest of the time, how did I make my way there?? Its by BUS.

There is a direct bus from Singapore (Golden Mile) to Kluang by The One Travel & Tours (if I'm not wrong), and the return (under the name of Five Star), as well.

But I go by the more indirect way. First, I will take a bus (Causeway Link) from the Bus terminal in Bugis, which costs around SGD3.20 per pax, to Larkin. Then from Larkin, take a S & S International Express Bus to Kluang, which costs around MYR19 per pax. Total journey will take approximately about 3 hours subject to the traffic conditions. The frequencies for these 2 bus services are not bad, the longest interval will be 30mins. Then for my return, I will take the Five Star bus back to Singapore Golden Mile direct.

Do note, when you arrive into the Kluang Bus terminal, before you start with anything, please go to the second level, to buy your return bus ticket back to Singapore first, so you know how much time you have in Kluang, in order not to miss the bus back.

WHAT TO DO THERE:
Eat & eat & eat
My all-time favourite place - Tangkak Beef Restaurant
Out of the 5 times I'm there, I will go there 5 times. This is how much I love their food.
Their beef noodle is super super good. The soup, the beef and the noodle is the best combination~

I love their Chilli too.

Other than Beef Noodle, their toast bread is nice. The butter melts when you bite, and their Kaya is good too.

Drooling as I am typing this. I missed their food now~~

Next place is the Kluang Rail Coffee Shop. It's quite famous but I have yet to tried it because every time I'm there, I just go to Tangka. =P But people, do tried their food as well.

Last, there is this Ramly Burger seller, situated along the road to Kluang Mall. He is not always there, and I believe he is only around there from the late noon to evening onwards. His burger is very good, and he is always having the smiley face on him. Hehe.

Shop
I will always go to Classic Eyewear to make my glasses or buy contact lenses there as it is way cheaper than buying it in Singapore. Their service is really nice too. If you are making new glasses there, most of the time you will be able to get it on the same day say after 45mins. But for my case, as my astigmatism is very high, they only can complete it by the next day, but no worries, they do deliver it to Singapore with charge of MYR25? (If I did not remember wrongly). This applies to the contact lenses as well.

Next, I will go to Kluang Mall for some shopping at the Watson's, Popular and some random stores in the mall. This is just some simple shopping only.

Relax
There is a cinema, which you can watch movie at a much cheaper rate as compared to Singapore. But, do note, their Subtitles are in Malay, so There is a K place there to sing, which is not expensive and comes with drink, do check with them the rates if you want to go sing.

This is all I remember for Kluang. It's a nice and quiet place, which I will still go there every now and there. Do let me know, if you have places in Kluang do recommend as well.

Till the next time,
Loves.

[REVIEW] SQ versus KE

I just came back from Korea about 2 weeks ago from vacation with my friends.
This is my third trip there, and I'm never tired from it.

For my first 2 trips, I took Singapore Airlines (SQ) there, and this time round, it is the first time I'm taking Korean Air (KE), something new.

I shall make a comparison between these 2 airlines based on my own experience/opinon.
To me, whenever its possible, I will try to go Korea via Singapore Airlines. However, this time round, the fare for SQ was over a thousand dollars (SGD) for SIN-SEOUL-SIN, which leaves me no choice but to try on Korean Air, that costs me less than a thousand dollars (SGD) for SIN-xSEOUL-JEJU-BUSAN-SIN, due to sales/promotions.

During the check-in, procedure and the experience with 2 airlines are rather similar, so not much to comment.

Now focus on the on-flight experience. Personally, it seems to me that the seats on KE are more spacious as compared to SQ. Spacious in terms of the leg space. (My friends feel the same as well). For the entertainment, very little movies choices and thus, throughout the whole flight journey, it was rather bored. SQ for this area, is much better, as there are so much more variety. Next, meal! Both the SQ's & KE's did not really impress me. But if I were to choose on one better one, I will choose KE. At least they do have their own special main. The BIBIMBAP! It was not too bad, and was rather special.

Additional plus point for KE is that their cabin crew. They are really attentive and nice. I took a red-eye flight from Singapore to Seoul. During the mid of the journey, where most people are already sleeping, the cabin actually switch off the screen of the inflight entertainment.

Another incident which really impressed me, is during one of my domestic flights. As my friends and I are really tired from the traveling, and therefore once we on board the plane, we were already sleeping very soundly. The cabin crew actually put a sticker on the seat in front of us, to indicate that they have yet to serve us as we were sleeping, so just let them know if we require any assistance when we are awake. This is so nice of them, to ensure that all the passengers are being served, and not missing any one.

However, there are also the not-so-good points of KE. Out of the 5 flights I took with KE, all 5 were delayed. And also, my luggage was so 'injured'. Scratches everywhere, which I don't remember seeing it before the trips. SQ seems to do better in these aspect. No big scratches or damages on luggage, not all flights were delayed.

Verdict
Each airline has their own plus and minus points. If the cost of the flights are not in great difference, I will still  choose Singapore Airlines. However, if Korean Air is having a promotion, where fare is so much cheaper, I will go with Korean Air. They are not that bad.
There is another airline, Asiana, which goes to Seoul direct. I have no chance to take on this flight yet. I hope one day, there is a chance for me try on this flight.

Till the next time,
Loves.
